Learning, Living, and Sharing God's Word

We are all about God's Word - first learning it, then living it, and also sharing it. God's Word is all about Jesus. Jesus is all about us and you. Yes, really. Give us a chance to explain. Browse these pages to see what we're about in more detail. Contact us if you have questions or just want to talk. That's one of the ways we love to share.

Living Word Lutheran Church, located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, is a congregation of about 140 Christians primarily seeking people who do not yet know of their need for Jesus. Living Word is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).

Until we have a facility of our own, we meet weekly at Rose Glen Elementary School (Map at YourGMap.com) to worship God who is our Creator and Savior. We invite you to be our guest at a worship service Sundays at 10:00 A.M. at Rose Glen.

Feel free to contact Pastor John Borgwardt if you have questions about Living Word and our ministry in southwest Waukesha. He will often be at the Ministry Center located at the intersection of highways 59 and 83 in Genesee Depot.

Hollyn Peterson Benefit Concert

Hollyn Peterson is a third grader at Rose Glen Elementary in southwest Waukesha, Wisconsin, who is fighting cancer for the second time. To help defray some of the costs her family has incurred, Living Word is hosting a benefit concert with an auction and raffles on June 28, 2008, at Waukesha West High School. See the Vibes on the West Side site for more information, including how you can help.

Day Camp 2008 Scheduled

Living Word's annual Day Camp for kids will be held Thursday and Friday, June 19-20, 2008. The Camp will run from 9:00 A.M. through 3:00 P.M. each day. Children 4 years old through 5th grade are welcome and encouraged to attend. This year's theme is Running Wild: Jesus Is the King of My Jungle.

Look here for more details about registering online, volunteering, and donating supplies, as the information becomes available.

Strangers in a Strange Land

This morning I want you to pretend that you have amnesia. That's when you can't remember things. In this case that's going to make your life very difficult because I also want you to pretend that you somehow made it thousands of miles away from home, and you are standing on a street corner in Moscow, and because you have amnesia you have absolutely no idea how you got there or why you're there. What in the world would you do? I suppose the first thing is to try to remember all the things you know about Moscow. What do you know about Moscow? It's the capital of Russia, which used to be the sworn enemy of the United States not too long ago. (Since you're an American, that doesn't give you happy thoughts.) It has Red Square and cathedrals built in the Byzantine style of architecture with beautiful onion-shaped domes. Maybe you've read War and Peace so you know that Napoleon captured Moscow, but he had to leave in defeat while General Kutuzov attacked his army all the way back to France, and most of them froze to death in the Russian winter.

But that's a rather negative thought, too, and you're trying to stay positive at this point. If you're like me, you'd probably just try to figure out how to survive. So what would you do? You'd try to talk to someone. But what if you find out that no one speaks English? How would you ask someone where a hotel is, one preferably with hot running water? Where would you eat? How would you pay for it? How would you get around? How would you get home? Where is your family? Do you have a family? more...
