New Altar Used in Worship
On Easter Sunday, we used a new altar that was constructed by one of our members, who subsequently donated it to Living Word.
As shown here, you can see that it comes in three sections. To the left of the main portion is the baptismal piece. To the right is the Lord's Supper piece.
Above our logo (open Bible, cross, and dove) are the words, "Alive in Jesus", which is part of our mission statement.
The three sections can be easily separated, and all are on wheels, so that it can be rolled away for easy storage at Rose Glen.
Living Word Purchases More Land
On Wednesday, March 25, 2009, Living Word closed on the purchase of an additional 3.7 acres adjacent to (south and west of) our original 3.3 acres of land across the road from Waukesha West High School. The total area (approximately) is shown shaded in red in the picture at the left.
During the next several months, various committees will be active in making plans for the design and construction of the building or buildings to be erected at the site and in gathering funds needed to pay for and maintain the facility.
Living Word will use these facilities to further community outreach and to continue to implement the stated mission of sharing God's Word especially with those who have yet to hear about it.
More information will be published here in the coming months as work on this project progresses.

2009 'Jesus, Priceless Treasure' Day Camp
Thank you to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for supporting our day camp on July 9 and 10. Approximately 89 children and 38 volunteers made the our 5th annual day camp a huge success.
Hollyn Peterson Benefit Concert
Hollyn Peterson is a third grader at Rose Glen Elementary in southwest Waukesha, Wisconsin, who is fighting cancer for the second time. To help defray some of the costs her family has incurred, Living Word hosted a benefit concert with an auction and raffles on June 28, 2008, at Waukesha West High School. Peru Trip
Living Word sponsored the building of a church in Nueva Amistad, Peru. (Original plans were to build in Tarapoto as was reported in Forward in Christ.) Eleven Living Word members went there in October, 2007, to help build the church, which will also be named Living Word.
After our members had returned home, but before the end of 2007, other local workers had finished the walls and roof of the church themselves.

Thinking of Rachael
Rachael is a student at Rose Glen Elementary, who is battling the effects of West Nile Encephalitis. You can see an article and watch a video clip of a story that aired on WISN about Rachael. (Click the 'Meet Rachael & Brooke; Ask Yourself, "What Would You Do?"' link on that page. Wait patiently for the video to load and sit through the opening advertisement.)
Rachael's family maintains a blog on Yahoo about her progress that is updated as they have the time.
In September of 2007, Living Word sponsored a rummage sale and silent auction the proceeds of which will be given to Rachael's family to help defray their medical bills.
